Exposure of 160 wafers per hour! ASML’s new EUV lithography machine set a record: selling crazy

ASML released the third quarter of 2021 financial report, EUV lithography machine shipments and revenue have set new records.

The financial report shows that ASML’s net sales in the third quarter of 2021 were 5.2 billion euros, net profit was 1.7 billion euros, gross profit margin reached 51.7%, and new orders amounted to 6.2 billion euros.

ASML expects revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021 to be approximately 4.9 billion to 5.2 billion euros, with a gross profit margin of approximately 51% to 52%.

Product and business summary:

EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) Lithography Business: EUV system shipments and revenues have set new records this quarter. The latest NXE:3600D EUV lithography system set a record of 160 wafers per hour exposure on the customer’s production line.

DUV (Deep Ultraviolet) Lithography Business: 15 years ago (2006), ASML’s first immersion lithography system supporting mass production of chips went on the market. By this season, the milestone of 1,000 ArF immersion lithography systems was reached.

ASML President and CEO Peter Wennink said: “Our third-quarter revenue reached 5.2 billion euros and gross profit margin reached 51.7%, both in line with expectations. New orders in the third quarter reached 6.2 billion euros, of which 29 Million euros came from EUV system orders. Customer demand for lithography systems is still high, mainly because digital transformation and chip shortages drive market demand for memory and logic chips.”

“We expect revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021 to be approximately 4.9 billion euros to 5.2 billion euros, gross profit margin approximately 51%-52%, research and development costs approximately 670 million euros, and sales and administrative expenses approximately 195 million euros. It is expected to achieve the goal of 35% revenue growth for the whole year.” Peter Wennink said.
