Qorvo Introduces Two High-Performance PMICs for Data Center, Cloud Storage and Computing Applications

Qorvo®, Inc. (NASDAQ: QRVO), a leading provider of RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and aerospace and defense applications, today announced two Power Management IC (PMIC) products – the ACT85610 and ACT86600 , which can significantly improve the power management status of enterprise and cloud computing systems. Highly integrated and programmable, the new products overcome product size challenges and provide system designers with industry-leading flexibility and control. The product can be pre-programmed during manufacturing to suit different system requirements and further optimized using firmware in the field via the I2C bus.

Qorvo Introduces Two High-Performance PMICs for Data Center, Cloud Storage and Computing Applications

The Qorvo ACT85610 PMIC is the only product on the market with a monolithic compact design that combines high performance Power Loss Protection (PLP) and programmable power management in a single chip. The ACT85610 integrates FETs for eFuse, buck and boost regulators to support enterprise solid state drive (SSD) applications covering common 3.3V, 5V and 12V power inputs and provides seven programmable general purpose inputs/outputs Port (GPIO) for status reporting, timing control, system auto-discharge and interrupts. An integrated 8-channel 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) allows measurement and monitoring of key system parameters. In addition, the ACT85610 PMIC implements automatic storage capacitor health checks and accurate capacitance readings, enhancing system monitoring and lifetime estimation capabilities.

The Qorvo ACT86600 PMIC integrates high current and high efficiency regulators. This highly configurable, compact device features five buck regulators, one buck-boost regulator, and seven programmable GPIOs. Each regulator has multiple frequency settings for maximum flexibility. The high-current regulator can optionally be configured as a single dual-phase regulator with twice the current to support up to 12A of DC current. GPIOs can be used to sequence external regulators, control regulator signal on/off, control voltage, signal “power good” status, monitor system voltage, and more.

“These new products reflect Qorvo’s continued commitment to providing system designers with multiple performance and flexibility options,” said David Briggs, senior director of Qorvo’s Programmable Power Management business. “In particular, single-chip PLP and power management The combination creates a new game-changing product that maximizes efficiency and reliability, and delivers the highest levels of integration, configurability and flexibility in enterprise applications.”

The ACT85610 and ACT86600 are available now and offer the following specifications:

Qorvo’s Programmable Power Management business unit brings expertise in power management and smart motor drives to key growth markets. The company’s portfolio of analog and mixed-signal SoC families creates scalable core platforms for charging, powering and embedded digital control systems in industrial, commercial and consumer applications. Qorvo offers Power Application Controllers™ (PAC™) and DC-DC power management products that significantly improve system reliability while reducing solution size, cost and system development time.
