A few days ago, the 11th Songshan Lake China IC Innovation Summit Forum was held in Songshan Lake, Dongguan City. After ten years, the conference has become the most distinctive industry event in China focusing on the promotion of local innovative IC products and enterprises, and has thus attracted the attention of many investment institutions. The theme of this year’s Songshan Lake Forum is Smart Internet of Things (AIoT), which is jointly organized by the IC Design Branch of China semiconductor Industry Association, VeriSilicon, and Dongguan Songshan Lake IC Service Center.
Since it was first held in 2011, the Songshan Lake Forum has promoted a total of 54 local IC companies, many of which made their debut in the Songshan Lake Forum. In the past ten years, 11 of these debuted companies have been listed, accounting for 20%, including Spicco, Jingchen, Montage, Zhaoyi, Goodix, Zhuoshengwei and Hengxuan Technology. According to Dr. Dai Weimin, vice chairman of IC Design Branch of China Semiconductor Industry Association, founder, chairman and president of VeriSilicon, the host of the meeting, each Songshan Lake Forum will promote 8 to 10 models representing China’s advanced IC design level and matching annual popular In the past ten years, 79 new IC products were introduced for application requirements, of which 72 were mass-produced, with a mass production rate of 91%. In addition to the listed companies, there are currently 3 companies in the process of listing, 6 companies have received investment from large funds, and 4 companies have been acquired. According to incomplete statistics, 28 of the recommending companies have obtained financing, accounting for 52%.
The conference attracted 137 guests, of which 41% were IC companies, 18% were governments, associations and research institutions, 17% were investment institutions, and 12% were software and system companies. The growing influence of the Songshan Lake Forum complements the development of the integrated circuit industry environment in Guangdong Province. According to Dong Yemin, chief engineer of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Guangdong Province is implementing the “Guangdong Strong Core” project accurately and scientifically to build the “four beams and eight pillars” for the development of the integrated circuit industry. Create the “four pillars” of the industry, and build the “eight pillars” from the professional fields of manufacturing, design, packaging and testing, materials, equipment, parts, tools and applications, and promote the complementary advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions , coordinated development, and provide strategic support for the construction of a new dual-cycle development pattern.

The roundtable forum has always been an important focus of the Songshan Lake Forum every year. This year, the topic discussed in this session is “the next generation of smart phones – the development opportunities and challenges of smart wearable devices”. Chen Feng, Chief Marketing Officer of Rockchip Microelectronics, Sun Changxu, Senior Partner of Industrial Investment of Xiaomi Technology, Sun Zhen, CEO of Silicon Ray Technology, Tian Xuehong, Chief Technology Officer of Dapu Communication, Wu Gengyuan, CEO of Shencong Intelligent, and Chief Scientist of Rokid Zhou Jun, and Jiang Ning, director of China Semiconductor Technology Strategic Cooperation of imec Microelectronics Research Institute, and the host Dai Weimin discussed a series of topics such as the market potential of smart wearable devices, the development trend of innovative technologies, etc. The market and technological development possibilities of the products were investigated at the conference site, and the results are as follows:

Participants believed that the Songshan Lake Forum has become a platform for the release of China’s innovative products and a resource docking platform including investment and application, which will actively improve China’s integrated circuit design level and promote the large-scale application of domestic chips.
